From Lori Grace, Executive Director of Sunrise Center
I'm so happy to share this with you. SMART Elections and our community here at The Sunrise Center are coming together to host a screening of the HBO film Kill Chain, and I would love for you to join us.
If you haven't seen it, this film matters:
"With the integrity of 2016's election in question, [current elections are] also at risk as malware may already be in place to disrupt aspects of the election system. Following Harri Hursti, the legendary Finnish hacker turned election expert, as he investigates election-related hacks, the film provides a chilling look at this threat and reveals how unprotected our voting systems really are."
If you're in the Bay Area, come be with us in person. We're gathering at The Sunrise Center, 645 Tamalpais Drive, Suite A, Corte Madera, CA 94925, at 1pm PT. It's just $5 and includes refreshments. There's something special about watching a film like this in a room full of people who care.
If you're joining from afar, the online gathering is a lovely way to participate.
Here's how it works:
we'll each rent the film on YouTube or Prime (starting at $3.99) and press play together at 1pm PT on 9/26/26. We'll all be on Zoom at the same time, sharing reactions in the chat as we watch, and then we'll have a real conversation together afterwards. Just to be clear, the film won't play on the Zoom itself. You'll watch on your own screen and connect with all of us in the chat and discussion.
And here's something exciting: Our co-host, Lulu has been texting with Harri Hursti, the star of the film. He'll be on the road that day, but he's exploring whether he can join our online discussion. Fingers crossed!
Once you register, you'll receive a confirmation email with the Zoom link for the discussion. Just remember to rent or buy the movie on YouTube so you can watch along with us.
The Zoom is free. The in-person screening is $5 with refreshments included.
I hope you'll join us. This is the kind of conversation our democracy needs, and it's so much better when we have it together.
With love,
Lori

Hosted at the Sunrise Center, Lori Grace will present a shocking film about the state of our elections and election software.
“Kill Chain: The Cyber War on America's Elections” (2020), directed by Simon Ardizzone, Russell Michaels, and Sarah Teale; an HBO Documentary Films production, takes a deep dive into the weaknesses of today’s election technology, investigating the startling vulnerabilities in America’s voting systems and the alarming risks they pose to our democracy. The team behind HBO’s 2006 Emmy®-nominated documentary “Hacking Democracy,” the recent film “Kill Chain” follows Finnish hacker and cyber security expert Harri Hursti as he travels around the world and across the U.S. to show how our election systems remain dangerously unprotected.
Lori will share what has learned about the current state of how our elections are being handled, and who is interfering with our votes. Working together with 5 other nonprofit organizations who are also studying the situation, providing public oversight on a wider scale.
